Minor Eye Care

If you have a red eye or symptoms of flashes and/or floaters please contact us immediately for an appointment. You will either be given an appointment or details of your symptoms taken, and an Optometrist will phone you back to arrange an appointment or advise you over the phone. This appointment will be covered by the NHS under a new shared care scheme, which has been implemented in Derbyshire concerning the management of minor eye conditions. This is to help relieve the burden off GP`s surgeries and A&E.

This scheme has now been extended to cover all ocular emergencies and eye conditions covered by the NHS. If however your concern is with a general deterioration in your vision, this will need to be addressed in a normal full sight test, which will only be covered by the NHS if you are entitled to NHS help. Otherwise this will require a private sight test. If you are unsure of which pathway is best for your particular concern, please phone us and we can advise you of the appropriate action to take.
